Lecture #12:
Knowing and using your signature strengths
by Darcy A. Santor

What defines you? What is it that makes you who you are and different from everyone else? In this lecture, you will learn about personal strengths, and your own unique, signature strengths. Surprisingly, research has shown that most of us, are not even aware of our own unique blend of strengths or how to use them.

Knowing your strengths is one of the key elements to maximizing your well-being as well as your performance at school.  Personal strengths can also benefit you when dealing with adversity and even trauma.  Research has shown that individuals who cope successfully with traumatic events tend to be high on characteristics of kindness, hope, gratitude, bravery and religiousness.

In this lecture, you will also learn how to get the most out of your own unique blend of personal strengths and characteristics.  The key to utilizing your strengths is to find the activities in your day-to-day life, at work and in your courses that align with those strengths.
